Sketch Friday: Elephants!

I recently went to MUSMA (museo della scultura contemporanea) in Matera. It’s a really cool museum of contemporary sculpture housed in the Sassi of Matera, an ancient part of the town where the houses are all built on top of each other and tunnelled back into the rocks.

One of my favourite pieces in the museum was this tiny, elegant sculpture of a series of elephants standing on one another by Aldo Mondino, called Scultura un corno, 2001.

Here is my sketch rendition of the sculpture – for the real one, you’ll have to go visit the museum!
